Monica is graduating from the University of Arizona this December and her mom called and asked if I could squeeze in a portrait session and have the images processed and ready for pick up before Thanksgiving.  Sure, I said…thinking that one person is not too difficult to work with.  This was to be my first time photographing cap & gown and my first college grad session, so I was excited that it was Monica.  I’ve known her for a few years and she is a sweet, lovely young lady.

I was right about Monica not being difficult to work with…she was a bit nervous at first, but soon became used to what I was asking from her and how I was posing her and our shoot moved along quickly. We started our session with a few posed Cap & Gown images at my home–I have the perfect spot for it.  We then drove to Saguaro National Park east where I had a couple of specific places in mind that where I wanted to capture some more Cap & Gown photos.  I was able to get some really awesome ones with a wonderful Saguaro-filled valley as a backdrop and was so pleased!  The sun kept going behind clouds but was not providing enough shade for some of my other fave spots @ SNPE, so, we drove off to Agua Caliente Park in the Northeast Valley–0ne of my go-to venues for portraits.  There is always some shade there and a large variety of backdrops to chose from.  There were three other pro photographers working there at the same time we were so we had to wait our turn at one of the more popular spots.

It turns out that the camera loved Monica–and so did I!  It was so fun and rewarding to capture her sweet, her sassy and her shy sides which came through the eye of the camera beautifully.   What do you think?
